San Luis Obispo Mission and Edna Valley Vineyard Wedding | Michael & Marya, Part 1

Michael and Marya. What a pleasure it was to be with them on their wedding day as an associate photographer for Brittany Gerth! I just love the sparks of excitement and anticipation that are part of the wedding day experience–and this wedding was so full of them. Michael and Marya’s ceremony was held at the Old Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, an amazing church that was built back in 1793 that’s in downtown San Luis Obispo, California. The couple and their families are from Southern California, but wanted a bit of a getaway for their celebration and so chose to have a destination event. A 200+ year-old church ceremony and a vineyard reception are what they decided on, and I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather have been than with them capturing their love and joy and celebrating their beautiful committment.

{I’m blogging this in two parts because I couldn’t stand to not share at least some of them now. You see, we’re in the process of moving (the movers come in just a few days) and I’m currently in Deer Valley, Utah (blogging from the iPad) for a mini vacation as well as some portrait sessions! In short, life is a little crazy right now and I most likely won’t have a chance to edit for a little while. So here’s the first half of Marya and Michael’s day, through the recessional. I hope you can see the excitement and emotion as I did through these images.}

Gown: Maggie Sottero
Florals: Melinda Lynch of Festive Designs
Officiant: Father Charles Ramirez
Hair & Makeup: Jessi Skipton

Many congratulations to Marya and Michael!

As a teaser for part two, here’s one of my favorite images from their reception at the beautiful Edna Valley Vineyard:

What a setting, right?? It was such a treat to shoot there–I sure wish there were vineyards in Colorado Springs. . . I think that’s one of the things I’ll miss most about living on California’s Central Coast.

I can’t wait to share the rest of Marya and Michael’s wedding story with you once we’ve arrived in The Springs :)
