These are a few of my favorite . . . Gowns

Happy February! It’s hard to believe the first month of 2012 is already over, my how time flies.

It’s been a  Say Yes to the Dress marathon for the past day or so (can you say seasons 1-5 on Netflix?) and I’ve got gowns on the brain! I’m even dreaming about them :) Something about this time of year and the upcoming summer wedding season has me all excited about them.  I’ve been collecting favorites on a Pinterest board I’ve named Gorgeous Gowns and thought I’d feature a few here.  I read a lovely post by Erin McLean of Erin McLean Events out of North Carolina  today that she entitled ‘Wedding Dress Wednesday’ and I just loved the idea of sharing favorites every now and then.

I’m quite taken with floral details, ruffles and lace – funny because I didn’t have any of those elements on my gown! I often say I’d remarry Gary again every year if it meant another fabulous gown each time – plus I love him more every day :)

Here are a few styles I’d love to try myself:

Essence of Australia.  I love the light airiness of this tulle gown.  It’d be perfect for a spring or summer event especially, even a destination wedding!  The little pop of sparkle in the belt is right up my ally.

The next two I found on the Kleinfeld website . . . I couldn’t not visit it since they are the show!

I’ve been swooning over gowns with a hint of soft color as with this Lazaro design . . . it’s the slightest bit untraditional but not overly so.  A truer pink or a light gold are also lovely options in my opinion.

The color of this Judd Waddell gown is sooo rich.  I love the mix of lace on top and the satin on bottom, as well as the contrast in tone of the two materials and how the belt pulls it all together.

Choosing your wedding gown can be a daunting task . . . I tried on at least 30 dresses, probably more, at a variety of locations before finding my “one” and when I was finally in it I didn’t recognize it as the perfect one at very first (my mom knew it though!).  My advice to brides is to keep an open mind and try designs on even if they aren’t what you think you want.  It’s amazing how different you may find you feel in various designs than you expected to.  Take full advantage of this wonderful time in your engagement and remember one of the best Say Yes to the Dress/Kleinfeld tips, “don’t bring too many people with you to the salon!”  This will minimize the number of opinions floating about and will enable you to really soak in how you feel in each gown.

Happy Shopping!
