A Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Wedding | Brandy & Drew

Brandy and Drew are good friends of ours so getting to shoot their wedding was really fun and quite an honor! Like us, they currently live in Colorado Springs but their wedding took place on the beautiful beach of Secrets Royal Beach Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Quite a departure from the weather and landscape of Colorado that we shot in for their engagement session! In fact, working on their wedding for the past couple of days after shooting a New Year’s Day wedding here in Colorado where it was literally 2 degrees or less has been quite the contrast – more than an 80 degree temperature difference! I digress. Without further ado, please enjoy this warm-weathered break from winter, Brandy and Drew’s rustic-with-Southern-touches beach wedding:

This lovely ring is a family heirloom – it’s so dainty and lovely, and blue!

The flowers were done by neighboring/sister resort Now Larimar. They turned out beautifully!

I was lucky enough to get to go gown shopping with Brandy a few months ago and I just love the Essence of Australia gown she chose. Lightweight (after a few layers of tulle were removed) and with just the right amount of Southern lace for the beach :)

That the bridal salon we shopped at had something as perfect as this in Colorado was such a wonderful surprise! Nice job Something New Boutique!

Close up of her stunning jeweled belt:

Isn’t technology wonderful?? Even in the Dominican Republic Brandy was able to FaceTime with her sweet grandma who couldn’t be there in person.

What a gorgeous bride you are, Brandy!

Brandy and Drew chose to see each other before their ceremony, I’m always so glad to have the opportunity for more portraits in another location and think it’s such a neat way to enhance your wedding day experience.

After months of planning and anticipation, it was pretty magical to see it all come together at their beach ceremony.

Brandy’s mother, Lynn, created the adorable “Shoes Optional” sign as well as all the other embroidered burlap details you’ll see throughout the reception.

I love this one below on the left of the bridal party – so happy for the new Mr. & Mrs.!

The Bill Levkoff bridesmaid dresses flowed so nicely in the breeze and you know I loved the floral detail!

Below and to the right? Not posed, just the hilarious sisters! :)

Because of the weather report, the reception was moved from poolside to a covered pool and beach-side open air restaurant, Castaways. It was meant to be and turned out beautifully!

Brandy’s mom made the lovely monogrammed table runners, “Better” and “Together” signs and table numbers.

Another Southern touch was their Savannah-style thumbprint tree complete with Spanish moss.

Drew and Brandy danced to Otis Redding, “These Arms of Mine” for their first dance.

The “T” shell cake topper was an Etsy find.

LOTS of dancing and fun was had at the reception :)

It was such a fun and special celebration for Gary and me to be part of, and made even better by the fact that we were able to share a vacation with Brandy, Drew and their family and friends! We had a wonderful time and are so happy for the two of them and glad to have them in our lives :)
