My Own Maternity Session | Waiting for a Child

Today marks 37 weeks and what is considered “full term” in my pregnancy with our baby boy! I can hardly believe how fast the past 8 months have gone, but they were the perfect amount of time to prepare our hearts and home for our new addition – somebody knew what they were doing when they designed this process :) We’re ready! I’ve been putting off for the past few months figuring out what to do about my own maternity photos and the problem was solved yesterday by my wonderful husband. Photos by Gary:

My wedding clients will know that Gary was my second shooter for my 2012 weddings – he’s definitely got an eye and talent for photography – I think he did a pretty great job for his first maternity session :)

We’ve been so lucky to have a nice burst of warmer weather this past week and I’m glad we took advantage while we could – my baby bump has taken this long to look really “legit” and I did not want to have to cover it up with coats and layers if I could avoid it.

I haven’t done much reading up on pregnancy/babies aside from on my favorite iPhone baby apps and a few websites – the one book I have read and enjoyed is Bringing Up Bébé. In it, an American mother who is also a journalist writes about bringing up her children in Paris and how different she notices French parenting to be from the way she sees her American friends doing things. From sleeping through the night quite early to being the opposite of picky eaters, the French have definitely got some things figured out. The first chapter is called “are you waiting for a child?” as it’s more common to hear that question than “are you expecting?” in the writer’s experience of Paris. It’s a phrase that rings truer than ever for me today and until Bradley arrives :)

Gary can almost always make me laugh, one of the many reasons I love him so.

Bradley will be joining us sometime in the next four weeks one way or another – we are so excited to meet him! :) Assuming he doesn’t surprise us and arrive in the next couple of days I’ll be blogging one more special wedding later this week – a beautiful snowy event we shot earlier this month in the mountains.

Thanks for letting me share these special photos with you!

I love this so much! So happy that Gary was able to take these photos for you. We cherish the maternity shoot that you did for us, and I’m sure you’ll feel the same way about these photos. Especially with it being your first child. It’s so exciting. Cannot wait to meet Bradley. He’s so lucky to have you two as parents!

Dad and I just viewed these together and while we thought it was impossible, we agree…we’ve never seen you look more beautiful… :’)
Having these images and knowing they are from the eyes, lens and heart of your husband is perfection. (Kudos, Gary ;).
Love you forever, like you for always…
P.S. I’m reading my Grandmother’s Bible and Dobson’s “Bringing Up Boys” these days! Eagerly “waiting for a child” with you, precious daughter.

When not being a rocket man, you’ve turned him into a great photographer. Can hardly wait to see pictures of Bradley through the eyes of both of his parents. Love you THREE!
